The idea for Horse Watch arose during international competitions, where we felt anxious because we couldn't see our horses while they were in the competition stables. We wanted to know if they were calm, if they were lying down at night, and if they were eating. However, competition stables often lacked the ability to connect a camera with power cables and Wi-Fi.
That's why we searched for an innovative camera system that is portable, easy to hang without fussing with zip ties or tape. It needed to have a long battery life and a portable router with 4G functionality that could work throughout Europe. Instead of cameras with built-in 4G, we chose a solution with a portable router, allowing us to easily monitor multiple horses in different stalls. A wireless router with good battery life, which could be charged with a power bank, was essential for us.
